楊易洛 Chemistry 5*
To be frank, I did not discover my potential and interest in science until I studied
senior form. I was not as enthusiastic about science as my other classmates back in
junior form. I selected chemistry as one of my elective subjects just because I wanted
to study M2. Chemistry is one of the available subjects which fits my condition, and it
also has great synergy with my other elective subjects.
Chemistry in F. 3 is not particularly exciting.
That is presumably because the theories are rather
simple and I put too much emphasis on finishing
tasks. In F. 4, things start to turn around. As one
of the students in Principal Ha’s last full-time
chemistry class, I experienced freshness during
the lectures. The theories were related to our daily
life. Metals, acids, alkalis and all of their reactions
were unfamiliar at first glance but real-life examples
resolved that “?” in my mind. Using everyday
situations for remembering makes things a lot
easier to comprehend. When questioned about the
foreseeable outcomes of an iron nail, that rusted
wok really contributed.
Science is all about application and
discovery. Relating what you have learnt to
what you have experienced must be carried
out in tandem with reciting theories in order
to maximize the efficiency of learning. When
you feel the things are really complicated and
questionable, just figure out the underlying
principle and tell yourself, “This is how the world
functions.”
I would like to express my sincere gratitude
to my two chemistry teachers for their tireless
contribution and I hope that POMA students will
be even more successful in the upcoming years.
