USING ENGLISH ABROAD
Dungog High School Excursion
Friday 18th May 2018 twelve students and two English teachers departed
for a 10 day English excursion to Australia. This was our school’s second
consecutive homestay and school placement programme at Dungog High
School, a regional New South Wales government school in the heart of the
Hunter Region’s rural dairy and timber country, previous English excursions
having been to Bangkok, Singapore and Sydney. On the weekends before and
after the week at Dungog the group enjoyed some of the highlights of Sydney
including the magnificent Queen Victoria Building (QVB), Sydney Tower Eye,
Sydney Opera House, Circular Quay, Luna Park, Taronga Zoo, The Rocks,
Darling Harbour and spectacular views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and
Sydney Harbour. Even the trip to and from Dungog on the XPT express
passenger train was an unforgettable experience in itself as it passed through
Sydney, across the picturesque Hawkesbury River and Central Coast before
passing through the City of Newcastle at the mouth of the Hunter, on its way
up to the township of Dungog.
