Life is full of unforgettable memories! The first day of my schooling at Meng Tak Catholic
School (MTCS) was an extraordinary one. I could not fall asleep easily the night before. Why? I
was worried about how my first day at MTCS would be.

On 1 September, I wandered around the kitchen early in the morning. ‘I’m going to meet my

class teacher. Will she be kind to me? Who will be my new classmates?’ I murmured. My mum
gave me a hug without saying a word. She waved her hand while I was leaving my house.

Having butterflies in my stomach, I kept talking to myself, ‘Time to go to school! It is already
seven thirty. I’ve got to go!’ I almost lost my direction while entering the school campus which
was ten times the size of my kindergarten! Everything was brand new to me. I dashed around
the campus. Lucky me! I found my classroom which was next to the music room. A warm
welcome was given by my class teacher. My classmates and I broke the ice bit by bit after
introducing to one another.

Suddenly, one of my classmates burst into tears because he missed his mum. My class
teacher comforted him gently. Then the Principal talked to him outside the classroom for a
while. After that, he came back with a smile. He shared his joy with us that the Principal had
given him a candy and explained to him about the colourful primary school life…

I am so blessed to grow up at MTCS. I would like to express my warmest gratitude to the
Principal and all teachers for teaching and guiding us!

On my first day at Meng Tak, I felt nervous because I would learn at a place that I had never been
before. Everything I saw was new, including teachers, students and the classrooms.

When I first entered the classroom, my new classmates came into sight. They were talkative and
they made me feel less nervous right away. Before I knew it, I had made a new friend already!

Then, my teachers came inside the classroom. They stood in front of the blackboard and
introduced themselves. I felt more comfortable afterwards.

After a few more activities, it was time to leave school. I found the correct line of the school bus
for about thirty seconds. I still remember all the things that happened on the first day of my school.

Six years have passed, I am now a Primary 6 student. It has been a long time since my first day at
Meng Tak. I will leave Meng Tak and study at a secondary school. I want to thank the teachers who
taught me in the past six years. They are hard-working and they always guide us when we don’t
understand what we learn. I also want to give thanks to my principal. He planned many activities
to help us become all-round students. I cannot tell how grateful I am as an MTCS student. Thank
you, Meng Tak!
