The study aims to present an overview of the

energy policy and energy-related issues in selected
economies, including Singapore, Korea, Taiwan,
Japan, Australia, United Kingdom and China
Mainland, and to understand how Hong Kong fares

in its energy and energy-related environmental
objectives/policies relative to these economies.

The other objective is to provide a framework of

supply-side fuel and energy mix strategy for the
electricity, town-gas and transport sectors to meet
Hong Kong Government’s proposed new Air Quality
Objectives (AQOs) for adoption in 2014 and 50-60%

carbon intensity reduction by 2020 as compared with
2005.
