YEARS OF
Outstanding School Award EXCELLENCE
In 1999, the then Education Department 40
launched the Outstanding School Awards
scheme to commend and promote outstanding
educational practices in the schools of Hong
Kong. Remaining true to our school’s
founding mission to foster students’ whole-
person development for years, we believed the
participation in the scheme helped to review
the effectiveness of our school policies.
During the two-year assessment procedures,
documents were reviewed by both local
and overseas professional educationalists.
Members of the assessment panel also
visited the school and had meetings with
staff members, parents and students. In
2001, the school was awarded by the Quality
Education Fund the Outstanding School
Award in the domain of Students’ Attainment,
in recognition of the excellence of the school
in the area. Among all the six Outstanding School Awards conferred upon local primary and
secondary schools, our school was the only recipient that was commended in the domain. As
reported by a news article, “The award reflects the devotion of teachers and the aspirations of
the School Sponsoring Body”.
The assessment panel was particularly impressed with our collective efforts in developing
students’ balanced and all-round development. “The management has a clear understanding
of the latest education trends and the developments. The teachers are devoted and enthusiastic
in teaching despite their heavy workload. Under the motto of Orderly and Respectful, the
school sets out 10 students’ codes which permeate subtly through the formal and hidden
curriculum.”
As the Outstanding School Awards scheme was conceived as an on-going quality school School Development over Four Decades
movement with the aim of enhancing the culture of quality education, our school was invited
to be a resource school that shared our successful experiences and practices on providing all-
round education with other schools in 2001 and 2003.
