School History
Our school sponsoring body, Kiangsu Chekiang And Shanghai Residents (Hong Kong)
Association, has been sparing no effort in rendering community service, especially in
education. Kiangsu & Chekiang Primary School and Kiangsu-Chekiang College, successively
founded on Hong Kong Island by the Association, have achieved excellence in nurturing
elites for society. In the 1970s, the Hong Kong Government developed new towns in the
New Territories. In recognition of the Association’s educational philosophy and experience,
the Government, in 1978, allotted to the Association a 6,000-square-metre secondary school
building in Wo Che Estate, Shatin. This signifies the birth of Kiangsu-Chekiang College
(Shatin), which is the first school established by the Association in the New Territories as well
as one of the first batch of secondary schools in Shatin New Town.
In the same year, the Government implemented nine-year free and compulsory education
resulting in a pressing demand for secondary school places. However, the school premises
were not ready when the school first opened in 1978 owing to the delay in the construction
work. Classes had to be conducted in the school premises of T.W.G.Hs. Mrs. Fung Wong
Fung Ting College in Lek Yuen Estate, Shatin. Upon the completion of the construction
work in August 1979, the school moved into the present premises. As a government aided
secondary school, our school facilities follow the standard of the Government. For the
YEARS OF EXCELLENCE betterment of the school environment, the Association funded the following three projects in
1980: installation of an air conditioning system in the school hall, installation of a lift linking
the various floors of the school building and establishment of the Chen Kwang Pu Library
(with acknowledgement of the generosity of the Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd.). In the
40 years that followed, the Association and the then School Management Committee ceaselessly
provided financial resources for improving and increasing school facilities and equipment. In
1994, the Government installed air conditioners in all classrooms to minimize noise pollution.
Furthermore, the School Improvement Project Scheme was carried out in 1996 with the
construction of an additional storey, Counselling Rooms on the ground floor and a lift for the
physically challenged.
In 2009, the Government launched the 334 New Senior Secondary School Curriculum of
which the implementation required a lot of school space. In view of this, upon discussions
with the then School Management Committee, the Association decided to spend HK$70
million constructing a 6-storey school extension building in 2011 with the provision of
diversified facilities including Multi-purpose Centre, Staff Room, Computer Rooms, Social
Worker Room, Counselling Room, Library (extension part), Music and Dance Room, Visual
Arts Room, Drama Room and a roof garden. The opening of the school extension building
in 2016 marked a more desirable teaching and learning environment which is a favourable
prerequisite for the school’s sustainable development.
The school adheres to the Association’s educational philosophy. The school motto, Orderly
and Respectful, and the code of behaviour are set to develop frugal school ethos and nurture
positive life values, i.e. be filial to parents; respect teachers and superiors; love brothers and
