The English Department aims at providing a
language-rich environment to encourage students to
learn and use English, supporting their learning of
other subjects in English, raising students’ English
standard and equipping them with the language
skills for their future needs.

To enhance teaching and learning effectiveness, a
great variety of English e-learning platforms are used
by teachers and students. Fun Fair

We also aim to enhance students’ motivation in
learning English by providing them with more
opportunities to use English through many different
English activities. To broaden students’ horizons, our
students started to join the AFS Student Exchange
Programme. Meanwhile, students are given a lot of
opportunities to communicate and get along with the
French exchange student at our school.

To build up students’ confidence in speaking English,
we provide them with the chances to give English
AFS Fair
speeches during the Morning Assembly and chat with
school teachers as well as the English ambassadors
for the English Speaking Scheme.

Teachers’ professional development is also one of the
focuses of the English Department. By conducting
peer observation among English teachers, more
interactive and creative elements have been added
to the lessons so as to arouse students’ interests in
learning English.
