PSHE
Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE)
PSHE is a 45-minute timetabled weekly lesson for students from Year 7 to Year 11. It is
through the PSHE framework that our students develop comprehensive life skills over
the school years, for higher education and beyond. Topics covered within PSHE are
grouped in three core themes: Personal issues; living in the wider world; and health and
wellbeing.
Each class is to make a presentation in the school assembly. Here are some of the topics
covered in 2017/ 2018:
Mental health and fitness
Current affairs
Positive relationships
Living in Hong Kong
Different types of relationships
Why is sleeping important?
Addiction
Friendships
World Religions
Waste Management
Kindness
Money
Animal welfare
Stereotype and discrimination
Feedback sessions were conducted to all Year 7 to Year 11 classes by myself and
homeroom teachers, to cover topics related to subject / career choices, values and
beliefs, based on the responses collected through the About the future form completed
by students.
We hope to share the common goal and aspirations with parents that children will grow
up to be respectful individuals and responsible citizens. Apart from the core topics such
as bullying, career exploration, and Internet safety, students learn that diversity is broad
in scope and that we are interdependent. Students learn to show understanding and
respect regardless of ability, age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, education or
other differences.
We encourage reflection on beliefs, values, and international mindedness. Apart from
homeroom teachers, subject teachers are encouraged to also share their knowledge and
areas of interests relevant to PSHE. Our objective is that we can guide students to lead a
happy and healthy life that could help make positive changes in others.
