Science
I teach Biology and Chemistry to most
of you but teaching was not my first
career. I am a Molecular Biologist and
spent many years cloning genes into
Bacteria amongst other things. Those of
you in my class have heard my research
stories.... and also know that I am quite a
‘savage' teacher. In spite of this moniker,
I hope that I have also made you ‘think'
and ‘rationilise' about the natural world.

It has been a wonderful and eventful
academic year working with both
Science and Math departments. Things
I've learned about KCCIS students this
year: 1. the loudest student is always
the one saying “BE QUIET” or “SHHHH”;
2. They don't remember what they
ate for breakfast, let alone what they
learnt last year; 3. Giving students
permission to the toilet is like allowing
them to go on an adventure - they
often get 'lost' along the way...
