Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my view whether I am in favour of virtual sports or real sports.
Virtual sports have become more and more popular nowadays and some people may think
that virtual sports can be good substitutes of real sports. In my opinion, playing real sports
is better than playing virtual sports. There are a few reasons that explain why I support real
sports.
First of all, doing real sports can improve your health. We can breathe the fresh air in
a nice environment when we are doing real sports and it will make us feel happy and it is
definitely good for our health. We can also have a healthier body to cope with our academic
pressure and release stress. However, playing virtual sports cannot provide us with such
an advantage. Even worse, playing virtual sports too often is also harmful to our eyes as
the bright light released by the television will absolutely hurt our eyes. Based on these
disadvantages, we can obviously see that playing real sports is better than playing virtual
sports.
Secondly, playing real sports will give us more chances to meet new friends and develop
different social skills. When the players are playing real sports, they have many opportunities
to meet different kinds of people and they can enlarge your social circle. Moreover, players
can have more communication and cooperation opportunities with their teammates in your
game. It can also improve their social skills and make them become more talkative and active.
Nevertheless, when one is playing virtual sports, he can just play it alone and he will not have
any chance to talk with others. Therefore, I think that playing real sports will bring players
more opportunities to talk to others and improve their social skills.
Some people said that doing virtual sports is much cheaper than playing real sports. I
disagree with it because the new generation of Wii costs about $2,600 to $3,100. With this
budget you can afford the best equipment for real sports, so I think that the money you spend
on real sports and virtual sports is almost the same but real sports bring more advantages to
us.
All in all, doing real sports will bring many benefits to us and enrich our lives to be more
pleasant. Therefore, I believe that doing real sports is better than virtual sports.
Yours faithfully,
Chris Wong
