But rules alone aren’t enough. We have to change how people think. Being a mother
shouldn’t mean you do everything at home. Fathers should be real partners, not just “helpers.”
Companies should respect flexibility, not just long hours. And we should stop judging women
by how perfectly they seem to do it all.
From bound feet to high heels in offices, women in Hong Kong have come a long way.
But we’re still walking a tightrope. Real change won’t come from teaching women to balance
better. It will come from creating a fairer world where work fits with life. Household chores are
everyone’s job, and “having it all” is possible for anyone, not just a dream women struggle for
alone. That’s the Hong Kong we should all want.
