P.5 - Building a Space Lander to Visit the Moon
The aim of the P.5 STEM project was for students to design and build a ‘Space Lander’
to protect two ‘astronauts’ trying to reach the Moon. The students were presented with a
scenario from NASA explaining the need for the design of the Space Lander. The students
were able to work cohesively in a group, identitying and the best use of different materials
to absorb the shock of the landing to help the astronauts land safely. They then recorded
the results of each trial and analysed them to modify and improve the design.

(Ballista Drone launcher)
The topic of the P.6 STEM project was to design a
ballista drone launcher to help solve the problem
of package delivery to areas that are difficult to
access. Students were able to design and build
their own ballista with the materials given.
