Although I have only joined the Volleyball Team
for one year, I have already deeply felt the love of
players and the coaches to volleyball.
When I joined the Volleyball Team, I was not
familiar with anything. The coaches and
the old players taught me a lot of skills,
and they also welcomed me warmly. Their
attitude made me feel at ease when I
joined the team.
Everything was fine in the first few training sessions
until the coach told us to join a competition in the first
week of April. The team members were excited, but I
was worried about it because I didn’t have confidence.
Fortunately, my sister was good at volleyball, and she
helped me a lot. When she was free, she practised
playing volleyball with me at the playground patiently.
After a few weeks, the school was closed because of
the COVID-19 pandemic. Our coach told us that the
competition had been cancelled. At that time, I felt
disappointed and desperate. I think my hard work was in
vain. I thought about it for a few hours. I finally realised
that my efforts were not in vain because when I grow
up, I can use the skills that they taught me step by step.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we received our
training online. Although I couldn’t play volleyball with my
teammates, I gained more knowledge about volleyball.
Every time we had an online lesson, our coach prepared
some fun activities for us, like making a towel ball and
using clips to make underarm model. We also watched
some videos. Some of them were made by our coach.
They were very interesting.
When I just joined the Volleyball Team, I didn’t do
anything well. I made careless mistakes. Luckily, the
elder teammates weren’t mad at me. They helped to
correct my mistakes and taught me how to do better.
I like our coach very much because he always uses
some fun and interesting ways to train us. That made
our training full of happiness. I would like to help and
encourage the new teammates.
