3A Tsui Kin Hang
Book Title: Grandpa’s Time Machine
Author: Colin Crisswell
The story is about 3 characters, Donald, Daisy and Grandpa. Grandpa’s favourite thing was to invent
different kinds of things in his living place and he invented a time machine which was a small yellow car that
could travel to different times and places. The story has four chapters:
1. Being held prison by a pirate under Cheung Po Tsai
2. Bringing gifts to the last emperors of Sung Dynasty
3. Witnessing the war between Portugal
4. Assisting the local patriots during the Japanese Occupation
Every time when they travelled with the time machine and when they were in danger, they could escape
in time. When they were back in the garage at home, Grandpa kept improving the time machine so that they
could choose where and when they would like to go. In fact, they knew that they were only learning the history
of the past. They understood history could not be changed.
I have learnt the history of Cheung Po Tsai Cave. It is a natural cave where the famous Guangdong pirate,
Cheung Po Tsai, kept all his treasures. It is located on Hong Kong’s outlying island of Cheung Chau and is a
popular attraction of it. However, no treasures have been found in the cave as a lot of people had visited there.
