My Most Memorable Moment at APSSS
6A Shum Lok Yan, Joyce
I will never forget that day- 28 February, 2019. That day, I experienced my most memorable moment at APSSS.
This ‘story’ started in a PE lesson. When I was having the lesson, my PE teacher, Mr. Cheng, let my class choose
the sports event and I chose the 60-metre race.
Dad suggested, ‘Joyce, I know that you will have a race on Sports Day. Shall we go to the sports ground and
do some sports? We can practise running.’ ‘No way! Running is very tiring!’ I said impolitely. ‘If you want to get some
prizes, you need to practise hard. Otherwise, you won’t succeed,’ Dad said seriously. I could not agree more so I went
to the sports ground with Dad unwillingly.
At first, I practised running with great reluctance. Shortly after, I thought doing exercise is not very tiring but a bit
interesting. After this day, I went to the sports ground to practise running whenever I was free. A few weeks later, I
could run much faster.
On Sports Day, I was really looking forward to the 60-metre race.
When the race was about to start, the other contestants and I arrived
at the starting line to wait for the race. ‘Beep!’ The race started. I ran as
fast as I could. I ran and ran and I got the first runner up! I was as happy
as a lark. When I stood on the winner’s podium and got the medal, the
silver medal winked at me in the afternoon sun. I finished with the light of
victory. This is my most memorable moment at APSSS.
On that day, I learned a valuable lesson. ‘No pain, no gain.’ This
lesson is very important in all walks of life. If you work hard, all your hard
work will pay off and you will get some unexpected rewards.
My Most Memorable Moment at APSSS
6C Yip Shun Yu, Purple
“Mum, look! This school is really big!” I still remember when I first stepped in Alliance Primary School, Sheung
Shui as a Primary One freshman. Six years ago, I was an innocent and ignorant girl. But now, I am a Primary Six
student who is going to leave this school in a few months. During these seemingly long but short six years, I have
experienced many precious moments with my classmates and teachers. The most memorable one at APSSS for me
was my first recitation in front of the whole school in the school hall in Primary 4.
When I was in Primary Four, the school held a talent show which all students could participate. At that time,
my English teacher Miss Chan invited me to perform an English story recitation. She thought it was a great
opportunity to get more recitation experience. I felt overwhelmed because I was afraid of failure. I did not want to
disappoint Miss Chan so I agreed. For the next few weeks, I kept practising hard to make sure I would not make
any mistakes on stage.
The day finally came! I felt uneasy before going on stage. 'Please
welcome Purple to recite a story for us!’ said the host. I walked slowly to
the stage, 'Hi…hi, um…' I was as nervous as an ant and spoke like a robot.
‘This is embarrassing!’ I thought. Suddenly, the teachers and schoolmates
applauded enthusiastically. They encouraged me not to be afraid. My heart
calmed down and I started reciting the story confidently. At last, I finished
the story successfully.
In the end, I made it. I could not have done it without the support of my
schoolmates and teachers. I also learnt that failure is not scary. Hopefully,
I will remember this memorable moment at APSSS when I face some new
chapters in my life.
