Congratulations to St. Thomas’ Child Care Centre on 60 years of
caring for children. It is amazing that St. Thomas’ is now 60 years
old. In fact, the centre opened six months after I was born, so I
remember the year. The first children at the centre will be thinking
about retirement!

I have warm memories of St. Thomas’. I remember walking into a
colourful place which was full of music. I remember all the happy
and healthy children and the staff who showed such skill, care and
love. Even in difficult times the staff worked hard to make sure that
all the children’s days were happy days.

I was privileged to be involved in the committee
of St. Thomas’ Day Creche for about 16 years
from 1987. Over that time there was continual
improvement in the service, both to meet new
standards and to keep the children safe, happy
and developing well. I particularly remember the
dedication and hard work of the supervisor Miss Ho
Yuk Bing. The committee representatives from the
HKSKH Welfare council helped us in so many ways
and eventually took full responsibility for the centre.

to watch over the
children and staff of
HKSKH St. Thomas’ Child Care Centre.
