Meet Our NETS
Mr James
Hello, my name is James Iles and I am the NET teacher at S.T.F.A. Ho Yat Tungc
Primary School. Away from the school I am a parent of two daughters. Lara, my eldest has just
finished primary two at her school in Tai Po. Evie, my youngest will start K1 at a kindergarten
in Tai Po this coming academic year. My wife is also a teacher. She teaches at an International
Kindergarten in Hung Hom. We have been lucky enough to call Hong Kong our home for nine years!
Although we have been in Hong Kong for many years, there are still so many parts that we are yet to
explore (I still haven't been to the Big Buddha!). When we have time, as a family, we like to go out and see as 多
much of Hong Kong as we can. We also enjoy going out and eating delicious food available throughout Hong
Kong. As the weather is getting a lot warmer, we will also be spending as much time as possible down at our
local swimming pool! 元
I have been teaching in Hong Kong for eight years, three of those have been at S.T.F.A. Ho
Yat Tung Primary School. Throughout my time at the school, I have been teaching using the 化
communicative language teaching method. I prefer this method of teaching language as it gets
students to use the language and see links between what we teach in the classroom and how they 學
can use English in their lives outside the school
gates. 習
I really enjoy being a NET teacher in Hong
Kong and particularly in this school as I find a
great sense of pride in my work. None more 經
so than when I see students master a skill
that I have taught them, or when I can see 歷
a skill being used. Working with children
also means that no day is ever the same.
Some of the questions I have been asked
by the students and even my own children
keep me on my toes and learning about the
world around me.
Miss Shamila
Hello everyone! I'm Miss Shamila Israr and I'm a Native English Teacher at
S.T.F.A. Ho Yat Tung Primary School. This will be my 9th year teaching in Hong
Kong and I'm loving it!
Teaching at S.T.F.A. Ho Yat Tung Primary School has been a tremendous
experience as I love all the exploring, learning and fun things I get to do with the
students. As a NET, apart from conducting English lessons, I love reading stories to
the students as I love reading myself. English Week is my favourite event at school
because students get to explore English language in a broader context as well as
enhance their communication skills through marvellous and fun activities.
I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was in high school. I am very
passionate about teaching and my favourite subject to teach is English. As an English major,
I have always enjoyed studying the English Language. My favourite thing about the English
Language is the English literature. I love reading books and books about English Literature
are amazing.
English hasn't been the only language that I have been interested in. In high school,
I started learning French. Le français est une langue très intèressante. (French is an
interesting language.) I learnt French for 5 years. It's a very interesting language to learn. I
hope I can pass my passion for learning onto my students.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family
and friends. I love going to theme parks and carnivals with my
friends. Most of the time, we just grab a cup of coffee and chat.
And that's all about me. Au Revoir! (Bye!)
