English Week is a fantastic event that we hold at S.T.F.A. Ho Yat Tung
Primary School. We usually have three to four English Weeks per academic
year. The purpose for English Week is to promote using the English language
多 in their everyday lives and to expand the students' vocabulary as well as build
confidence.
元 Throughout English Week, everyone in the school speaks only English. If
the students can do this, they will get stamps in their passports. If they collect
化 enough stamps, they can redeem them for a prize. There are many other
ways of getting stamps. In the morning assemblies, we will have quizzes,
or games such as bingo. At the recess time, there are booths set up in the
學 playground and/or the school hall where the students can come and play
a game or do an activity. Doing these events will earn the students more
習 stamps.

This year the focus on English Week was to promote different
經 cultures. We focused on countries in Asia including China, Japan, India
and Korea. We had different events such as tea tasting, music, learning
about manners and customs, and festivals held within these countries.
歷 Students and teachers alike enjoyed these activities as they get to

see the similarities and differences that they share with other cultures.
The students were able to make new friendships over some of these
activities too as they realized that they had shared interests with other
students.
