Mavis’ birthday party

Dear Diary,

Today was my friend Mavis’ birthday. I met five other friends and we went to
her home so that we can celebrate her birthday. When we came to her house,
she opened the door and let us sit on the sofa. Then we took out the gifts to
give to Mavis. But I have forgotten to bring a gift!

Luckily, although I didn’t bring my gift, she was not angry. I thought she was
very kind. Next, she took out a cake and many snacks from the kitchen.
Suddenly, when she cut the cake, she didn’t see a cake. She saw a Lego cake!

She was very surprised and asked us what happened.

After that, we laughed and answered her, ‘When you went to the toilet, we
took out the Lego cake instead. We surprised Mavis! This was the reason why

Patrick didn’t bring a gift too.’ And I said, ‘To make this Lego cake, I spent 6
hours to finish it! It was a difficult job!’ Finally we ate the real cake, fishballs,
and drank cola. We also played card games.

After the activities, we were ready to leave but Mavis asked me, ‘Why did you
make the Lego cake?’ I said, ‘Because it is the last year that we celebrate your
birthday in primary school.’

She was very moved and joyful because we may not be able to celebrate her
birthday next year. But at this moment it was the best.
