My Colourful Life in KCCS
5D Chow Hiu Tung
Four years have passed in the blink of an eye. Being a F.5 student, I have developed a deep
sense of belonging to Kiangsu-Chekiang College (Shatin) (KCCS). Every minute, every
second of getting along with my lovely schoolmates and respectable teachers in school
is portrayed vividly in my memory. My life in KCCS is a lively picture, in varied but
harmonious colours.
Studying in KCCS is blue—a colour that symbolizes seriousness, knowledge and hard work.
As mentioned in the student code, students in KCCS are eager to learn. Knowledge seems to
be fresh and scented fruits to me, attracting me to discover and explore all the time. Frankly,
learning is a long and painstaking process. Difficulties and failure often knock me down.
Nevertheless, I am blessed to have a shoulder to lean on when I feel confused and lost in this
grindingly tedious journey—my classmates are pleased to help me to sort out my problems in
schoolwork while my teachers are always willing to explain the answers patiently.
Working together to achieve goals in KCCS is red—a colour that symbolizes passion
and accomplishments. Participating in the Girl Guides team in KCCS, 115 NT COY, is a
meaningful experience in my secondary school life. In the past four years, I took part in the
the solemn commitment and discipline of Girl Guides, the spirit of mutual understanding and
YEARS OF EXCELLENCE Hong Kong Girl Guides Annual Parades in which firsthand drills allowed me to experience
teamwork. Participating in the Guide Shield Competition (Orienteering Section) gave me
the opportunity to get through tough tasks with my teammates. In a spacious campsite with
40 unfamiliar buildings and paths, we had to go to distant spots in a short period of time. As it
was raining, I could not distinguish whether it was my sweat or rainwater streaming down my
face. These are just two of the examples but far enough to teach me the precious meaning of
cooperation.
Doing sports in KCCS is yellow—a colour that symbolizes energy and enthusiasm. Besides
playing basketball as a leisure activity, I have joined the Chinese Martial Arts Club in KCCS
from which I have developed a habit of doing exercise regularly and also enriched my
knowledge and experience in Chinese culture. Every Saturday, I come to school to learn and
practise Wushu with the respectable seniors. All of them have graduated from KCCS for years
but they are still passionate about learning Wushu, passing on their skills as volunteer coaches.
Learning Wushu is a test of stamina but is also a fruitful experience. Performing every gesture
precisely and accurately is important for both performance and real-life application. I feel so
lucky to have a chance in secondary school life, getting to explore the depth and profoundness
of traditional Chinese culture.

On the occasion of the 40 anniversary of KCCS, I sincerely thank everyone I have met in
KCCS. My learning process is painted with vibrant colours and my secondary school life is
so memorable solely because of your participation. Here, I wish my school a great future,
welcoming the Golden Jubilee Anniversary.
