Parent-Teacher Association
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) was founded in 2000. The objective of setting up
the PTA is to strengthen connection and collaboration between the school and parents who
are one of the major stakeholders and supporters of the school. Since 2012, the Chairperson
of the PTA has served as the Parent Manager of the Incorporated Management Committee.
The Parent Manager works with other School Managers and takes an active role in school
management.
The monthly PTA meetings facilitate communication between parents and the school. They
also provide an effective channel to gather parents’ opinions and valuable advice that enable
the school to formulate policies and strategies to cater for the needs of students effectively.
Sale of used textbooks as well as collection and donation of used uniforms are held annually
to help students in need. Emergency funding is available for students with financial
emergencies. Scholarships are also issued to students with the most remarkable academic
progress every year. All these illustrate that our school is a big family and students in need are
taken care of, with the aid of the PTA and its volunteers. With the generosity of the parents,
the Approved Collections for Specific Purposes are available. These together with the funding
from the school sponsoring body provide extra resources for the school to employ additional
YEARS OF EXCELLENCE native-speaking English teachers who help create an authentic English learning environment.
A wide variety of activities have been organized by the PTA with an aim of establishing a
close bonding between parents, students and teachers. They include Teachers’ Day, Spring
40 Dinner, Spring Picnic, voluntary services for the elderly, disabled persons as well as ethnic
minorities, various interest classes such as jogging, tai chi, flower arrangement, cooking and
leather craft, etc. In addition, the PTA conducts thematic talks and workshops for students on
career planning, leadership training, effective learning of Chinese Language and self-regulated
learning. There are also talks for the parents such as those on effective communication with
youth, proper use of mobile phones, etc. Moreover, PTA members and volunteers collaborate
closely with the school by providing guidance to F.1 newcomers and parents, serving as
escorts of the cultural exchange tours to Mainland China, holding mock university admission
interviews for F.6 students as well as acting as the liaison between the public and the school.
The PTA also rendered full support to our fundraising Walkathon and Carnival for the School
Extension Project and initiated the ‘Build a Better Campus Collaboratively’ Fundraising
Dinner with the Alumni Association. The PTA believes that parents’ contribution will make
the school a better place for the students’ growth and help sustain the school development.
The substantial support rendered by the PTA strengthens home-school partnership that is the
key factor of fostering the healthy growth and whole-person development of students.
