Our English teachers, Ms. Fuk Mei Ting and
Mr. Poon Cheuk Yuet, were invited to hold a
professional dialogue with their colleagues in the
th
third English Panel Meeting on 19 February 2019
after they have completed the 30-hour assessment
literacy course “Course in English Language
Assessment 2018” (CELA) organised by the Hong
Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority
(HKEAA).

While Ms. Fuk addressed the theoretical
components of the HKDSE English Language
Ms. Fuk and Mr. Poon shared with their colleagues
what they had learnt from the course Paper 1 (Reading), namely construct validity
in question setting and linguistic cognitive processes approach in a think-aloud manner, Mr. Poon conducted a
question analysis in a refreshing way, followed by its implications for Learning and Teaching (L&T) and Assessment
(paper setting).

The sharing was fruitfully concluded with all the panel members posting
professional questions, providing new insights into L&T and having
a thorough discussion about the HKDSE trends, the variety of public
examination questions as well as differentiated approaches to teaching
reading skills.

inter-house english drama competition 2019

The approach of this year’s inter-house drama competition
is famous fairy tales. Our four houses adapted their own
plays from four famous fairly tales, namely, Cinderella (Red
House), Snow White (Yellow House), Goldilocks (Blue
House) and Three Little Pigs (Purple House). Timeless snow white
fairy tales are timeless for a reason, but every so often, we need something
Goldilocks
different. That's where fractured fairy tales come in. Our four houses, under the
coaching of our dedicated English teachers, were given opportunities to add
twists, modernize and even change some parts of the fairy tales to put on a
meaningful and enjoyable performance.

The competition is to be held on 5th July at the school hall. Besides acting, the
house members will also be taking care of the make-up and costumes, backstage
sound and lighting effects, props and backdrop
designs. We can’t wait to enjoy the fabulous
performance of our talented Sun Hoi students.
