GOOD HOPE SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER
ASSOCIATION ANNUAL REPORT
Today is my fi rst time to report the Annual Report at the Parent Teacher Association Annual General Meeting (PTA
AGM). I am so honored to represent the PTA to speak here. As you all know, the PTA is a voluntary association. It
comprises 4 Teacher and 8 Parent Executive Committee Members. We also have two Ex-Offi cio Advisors and two
Non-Executive Members. All of us are doing PTA matters as voluntary work. Without the cooperation between one
another, we wouldn’t be able to run the PTA so successfully.
During 2017-2018, we can see that Good Hope School has had great success in terms of academic results and
other, non-academic areas. We are so proud of the success under the leadership supervision of Sister Pauline,
Mrs. Laura Green, Miss Grace Pow and Ms. Helen Yu. On behalf of the PTA Committee, I would like to send our
sincerest thanks to the School Management and Teachers. Thank you.
To give you an overview of PTA activities in 2017-2018, I now invite Ms. Maria Wu, our Treasurer, to give the
fi nancial report.
1. Finance
The Association recorded an operating fund of HK$$841,733 as of August 31, compared to HK$765,974 during the
same period last year. There is a surplus of HK$75,759.
Over the past year, a subsidy of HK$15,372 was granted by the Committee on Home-School Co-operation for the
operation of the Association and for the organization of activities. In 2017, the Co-operation particular granted a
Special Home-School Grant of $7,000 to have school and PTA working in collaboration to organize activities to help
student cope with the challenges.
In future, the Association will continue to manage the fund cautiously and adopt prudent fi nancial strategy so as to
reserve suffi cient fund for further co-operations with the School, and ensure that member’s daughters are growing
in an excellent and well-equipped environment.
2. Internal Affairs
Parent Manager
The Parent Manager has a signifi cant role to play in the school. He/she is an important bridge between the school
and you, the parents, and is ideally placed to channel the views of parents into the Good Hope School Management
Committee (SMC). The resolution of the Annual General Meeting in 2011 was that the Executive Committee (EC)
of the PTA will nominate a former or current EC member to serve as Parent Manager on the SMC. I am so honored
to have been selected as the Parent Manager. I hope to continue to work together with the School’s management
team and implement plans in order to make a good learning environment for the students. Thus, I encourage you to
join with us as the EC of the PTA and have a chance to be a Parent Manager.
3. Supporting and Organizing Events/Activities for GHS Students
In the academic year of 2017-2018, the PTA held two major events, namely the “Annual Talent Showcase and
Music Team Appreciation Dinner” and the “Annual Sports Teams Dinner Gathering”. The PTA sponsored these two
events to enable the students, teachers, and parents to relax and spend some time together.
Each year, the PTA also organises a “Thank You Lunch” to show our appreciation to all volunteer parents and
teachers for their contribution. Apart from this, we also organise a graduation pin design competition every year
for students to participate in. The graduation pin is a free gift for each graduate. Consider the volunteer parent
unlimited support and contribution, the Association decided to reward the parents with the pin for memory.
To follow the traditional practice, we also provide scholarships to recognize those students who obtain excellent
results in the DSE. Furthermore, we also sponsor refreshments for the parent talks.
4. AOB
The PTA continues to be involved in school services and events, such as Lunch Services, Library Services,
Internships, the Influenza Vaccination Program, the T&L tools sale and more. Without the support of teachers,
administrative staff, social workers and volunteer parents, none of these services or events could have been run
successfully. Once again, the PTA would like to thank all volunteer parents, teachers, administrative staff members
and social workers for their support.
