History
KCCIS History has enjoyed another
memorable year in 2017-18! Below is a
snapshot of the many highlights over the International History Bowl
past year:
We brought a group of year 11s for the
annual International History Bowl held at
Korean International School this year. This
was now our fourth straight year attending
the annual competition. Although we once
again bowed out in the playoff round to a
strong West Island School squad, the team
learned quite a lot from the experience.
Congratulations to Corey, Kyle, Jack, Max,
Nicholas this year for an outstanding run.
Well done!
Hong Kong Museum of History Visit
The Year 11 History class visited the History
of Hong Kong permanent exhibition at the
Hong Kong Museum of History in April as
part of their IGCSE studies on China.
Students had a chance to see first-hand
historical documents on impacts of the
Japanese Occupation of HK, the Chinese
Civil War, the Cultural Revolution and their
impacts on migration as well as other
political and economic policy in HK.
Kwun Tong Public Records Office Visit
Our IB History class went to Kwun Tong on a fine, spring
morning to tour the Public Records Office there, an archive
containing over 150 years of historical documents regarding
HK’s colonial history.
The guides were very kind and helpful in showing our students
around the venue. We learned how to access the different
reference archives inside the venue, as well as the (proper)
ways of using and handling historical documents. This
exposure was very helpful for us in starting and completing
our IAs for History.
