Hong Kong Sports Association for Persons with Intellectual
Disability (HKSAPID) was established in 1978 and entered

the 40 anniversary in 2018. The following events were held
to celebrate with the community.

In March 2018, the “Coach Education Programme: Improve
Learning Effectiveness and Behavior Management for

Athletes with Intellectual Disability” was held. To enhance the
learning effectiveness and effective behavior management
of athletes with intellectual Disability, seminar was shared by
university lecturer with effective ways to improve the learning

outcomes of people with intellectual disabilities, and to help
athletes learning self-discipline by providing different behavior
management methods.

It was grateful that the Home Affairs Bureau granted the
Government Suite of Hong Kong Stadium during the Hong
Kong Sevens 2018. It enabled our athletes and family
members, as well as donors, to participate in this major

event from 6 to 8 April, 2018. They all enjoyed the game and
had an unforgettable rugby experience.

To celebrate the 40 anniversary, our first-ever Swimming
Invitational Competition was held. The opening ceremony
and swimming competition were held at the swimming pool
of the Hong Kong Sports Institute on 24 June, 2018. The
Acting Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Department

Ms. LEE Bik Sai, Ida, was invited to officiate the opening
ceremony. Accompanied by the Chairman of HKSAPID,
Mr. Patrick CHAN, the event ambassador Hong Kong
swimmer Ms. AU Hoi Shun, Stephanie and the Paralympic

swimming gold medalist Mr. TANG Wai Lok, Ms. LEE hosted
the starting-gun-firing ceremony. In addition to the foreign
elite swimmers from Australia, Japan, Korea and Thailand,
