Dr. Michael Barbour, the Coordinator of the
Master’s in Invitational Education from Touro University
th
California, visited our school on 29 November 2017 and
had a great time here with the teachers and students. Some
of our students were very delighted to have lunch and a nice chat
with the professor from the USA. For most of the students, it was
their first time sharing their school life with a foreigner, so it was
indeed a remarkable and unforgettable experience for them.
Accompanied by our English Panel Head Miss Eliza Ngan
Mei Tik, our F4 students were overjoyed to participate in the
th
AFS Intercultural Fair held at Maryknoll Fathers’ School on 26
November 2017. During the visit, they got to interact with exchange
students from 15 countries. They learned different cultural aspects
about these countries. They also tasted their traditional food,
played their sports and games, and joined the folk dance. Such
fairs are not only an eye-opener for our students, but also help
them to step out of their comfort zone and explore themselves.
This year, there were a total of three periods designated for
theme activities. They were based on the themes of “Christmas”,
“Reading Café” and “Love and Care” respectively. We organized
the Reading Café in collaboration with the Library Service Team
with a view to enriching our students’ interest towards English book
reading and encouraging cross-curricular links. Thanks to Miss Sze
Lee Lee and her team for doing a fantastic job in choosing some
interesting books to be on display for the students to enjoy! And
a fun-filled English puzzle game related to a 4-D human anatomy
model was also held with the help of the Science Department for
students to learn about the various organs of the human body
and their locations. What’s more, the Music Department was also
involved in the Reading Café by providing us with some excellent
entertainment. Students from Form 2- Form 6 played and sang
English songs. Their music was greatly enjoyed by the crowd.
Thanks to Miss Zoe Chu Wai Man and the students concerned for
their participation!
All in all, our English activities wouldn’t have been successful
without the teachers’ help and coordination, as well as the
students’ active participation. Sincere thanks to those who have
supported us and we look forward to seeing more fun-filled English
activities in the years ahead.
