ENGLISH HIGHLIGHTS

It is generally known that language proficiency is best
raised through active and frequent use. It is important to
provide students with maximum English exposure as well
as meaningful and purposeful activities through which
they can learn and apply the language. Thus, a series
of English activities was held throughout the past school
year in our school to arouse students’ motivation and
interest in learning English as well as to provide them with
great opportunities to use English in an engaging and
communicative way. We would like to share some of the
highlights here.

Every Wednesday morning, our assembly was
conducted in English. There were different activities
such as game promotions, sharing, drama performance,
students’ presentation and even teachers’ performance.
The leaders of English Ambassadors acted as MCs of the
morning assembly and students from different classes
took turns to speak English in front of their fellow students.
Our English teacher Miss Sally Leung Yue Ying and her
class 5B gave us a presentation on “Tips to study and
distress”. They even invited the non-English teachers Miss
Lee Wai Lin and Miss Chan Ka Hang to give the students
some encouragement. Our another English teacher Miss
Amy Lau Suk Fong and her class 3A did a performance
and introduced us to Tik Tok, a short-video social platform
where we can learn English in a fun way. Through
participating in these English morning assemblies, not only
can the students practise public speaking, but they can
also gain their confidence.
