The Year 8 students went to Hangzhou during the Discovery Week. The visit
to the culturally rich region went a long way toward furthering the students’
knowledge of Chinese history and fostering their commitment to cultural
awareness and global understanding. The trip also enabled the students to recharge
their spirit of adventure and enhance key lifetime attributes and skills, such as self-
discipline, confidence, cooperation, and communication. Through shared activities
in an unfamiliar milieu, the students forged a remarkable friendship between
themselves and developed a better sense of magnanimity and teamwork.

We will continue to provide necessary guidance to maximize students’ academic
and personal development, and to cultivate their enthusiasm for the study of
the Chinese language and culture both through formal instruction and by taking
learning beyond the classroom.
