Despite the surge in COVID-19 cases and class suspension, members of the Toastmasters Club have not
stopped striving for opportunities to sharpen their edges. They have participated in a number of activities and
competitions to excel in public speaking.

a. 72 Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival (English Speech)
Public Speaking Solo - Secondary 3 and 4 (Journey to the outer space – an impossible dream?)
Members of the Toastmasters Club have successfully overcome the challenges of the switch to the “Video
Submission Mode” by writing the scripts, rehearsing the speeches and videotaping their performances. Their
tremendous effort is highly appreciated. Congratulations!

b. The HKFYG English Public Speaking Contest 2021
In January 2021, our Toastmasters Club members also signed up to the HKFYG English Public Speaking
Contest 2021 to widen their horizons in public speaking. Despite the suspension of face-to-face lessons, our
students’ passion for public speaking has continued to grow. Their enthusiasm and effort finally paid off with
the following results:

“My experience of joining the HKFYG public speaking
competition was not only rewarding but also memorable.
Never had I thought that I could still participate in a
competition during pandemic and suspension of face-to-
face classes. The experience has further sharpened my
skills on speech writing and delivery. I’m glad that I took
part in it!”

c. RTHK Common Room (Teen Time) Recording
On 3 Feb, 2021, four of our members Harina Pauline Grace,
Khatoon Bisma, Lai Irish Diane D and Kwan Pak Nan were invited
to join the recording of the RTHK Common Room (Teen Time).
The Zoom session was an amazing platform for our girls to
share their thankfulness during COVID-19. The gratitude they
expressed definitely brings along more positivity and hopes.
