It is my pleasure to teach K2 Storytime this year. English is the most widely used language globally, and stories are
excellent supplement materials for learning a new language. During Storytime, children are developing their literacy skills,
including vocabularies, comprehension and spelling. They are thrilled to learn English by reading stories because stories
are related to their daily lives. The children always amuse me with their funny sharing. As we all know, there are just 英語活動
reading can benefit children in so many ways. Therefore, we need to help children to build a good reading habit as early as
            possible.
I remember once a student told me that she loves to communicate with me in English. I asked her why and she said
she loves to listen to the stories in my lesson. I was impressed, and her words have become my biggest motivation in
teaching. I hope our curriculum can enhance young children’s passions in English. More and more practice can enrich their
            listening, speaking and reading skills.

What is the best tool to engage children in active learning? Telling stories is unsurpassed. Since I have obtained
English enhancement training from SCOLAR, my knowledge in pedagogies of exposing children to English has been
enhanced. Storytelling, Shared Reading, and other forms of related developmentally-appropriate English language
activities are part of the systematic framework (SCOLAR) which allows to develop students’ reading awareness, initiative,
            creativity and vocabulary mastery.
“Miss Nicole, what is the story for today?” That is what I often hear at the beginning of story time lesson. As a local
teacher, understanding of students’ learning pace, oracy and literacy skills in English as a second language is beneficial
with minimal cultural differences. Student in early childhood stage which is the golden period expresses deep interest and
enthusiasm for language learning. During the lesson, I am glad to see students’ performing at their best from using single
word to extending words into sentences, especially when the topic relates to their prior knowledge and daily experiences,
such as family, clothes, transportation, environment and so on. The joy of children’s learning in class has given me
motivation in creating a conducive learning environment in the future.
