Excursion to Australia
3B Ho Sheung Yan (Nick)
The destination of this study tour was Australia. It is a wonderful place. Let me share my study tour experience
with you!
It took 9 hours from Hong Kong to Brisbane, Australia. After the flight, we first met our tour guide – Kevin, an
over-2-metre tall “giant”. He is the tallest human that I have ever met. We first went to the South Bank Parklands. It
consisted of a mixture of rainforest, water, grass areas and plazas, as well as features such as the riverfront and the
Brisbane Wheel. The parklands were also home to the Queensland conservatorium.
The most forgettable place for me in Australia was Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. We were able to feed kangaroos
and we took group photos with a koala. We also watched the Aboriginal dance show. The dancers were the original
people there. I saw lots of Australia’s indigenous people and a lot of native animals.
Before going to the Sanctuary, we went to Surfer’s Paradise and the Honeyworld. Surfer’s Paradise is one of
the busiest shopping areas in Queensland. It is also Gold Coast’s entertainment and tourism centre. The high-
rise buildings are the best known feature of the city’s skyline. I bought a lot of
souvenirs such as soap and clothes. The sand in Surfer’s Paradise was very soft
and comfortable. Honeyworld is located in Currumbin. There were live bee
shows and a range of honey and bee products. It attracts tourists who like bees
and honey.
Another place that I can’t forget is Movie World. It is a popular movie-related
theme park. There are various movie-themed rides, as well as attractions ranging
from motion simulators to roller coasters and slow river rides.
In this study tour trip, I learnt how to take care of myself and speak with
foreign friends in English. I also became more confident in myself. A memorable
moment was that the host mum made us a lot of lemon juice. I will never forget
the mouth-watering lemon juice and I will miss Aussie food after I go back to
Hong Kong.
