TWGHs Student Ambassador
Tour to San Francisco
6B Chan Wah Yin and Chan Yu, accompanied by Principal Chow
and Ms Queenie Man, embarked on their journey to San Francisco on
th
19 October 2017. This year, TWGHs Student Ambassadors visited San
Francisco with the theme “The Spread of Chinese Culture - Becoming
a Global Citizen”. 24 student ambassadors are divided into four groups,
researching on topics related to how Chinese culture influences the
economy, art, science and technology development of the United States.
TW student ambassadors were trained for nearly six months before
visiting San Francisco, attending different workshops on Tung Wah
history, the lives of oversea Chinese, dining etiquette, and training for A
Cappella and sand painting performance.
In San Francisco, student ambassadors were granted valuable opportunities to meet the Consul
General of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco and Mayor of San Francisco; attend
meeting held in the City Hall and visit popular sightseeing sites such as Asian Art Museum,
Angel Island, Fisherman’s Wharf, Locke (which was built by Chinese immigrants during the early
th
20 century) as well as Stanford University and Google headquarters in Silicon Valley.
The tour is certainly a rewarding and special experience for the two Sun Hoi ambassadors.
